Experimental Study on the Phase Relations of the SiO2-MgO-TiO2 System in Air at 1500°C

Abstract We investigated the phase relations of SiO 2 -MgO-TiO system in air at 1500°C using high-temperature isothermal equilibration/quenching technique, followed by x-ray diffraction measurements and direct analysis scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectrometry. One single liquid domain, five two-phase domains (liquid-TiO , liquid-cristobalite, liquid-MgO·SiO liquid-2MgO·SiO liquid-MgO·2TiO ), three-phase regions -MgO·2TiO -cristobalite, liquid-TiO -2MgO·SiO ) were observed. constructed a diagram based on experimentally measured compositions. compared simulations MTDATA FactSage thermodynamic software their databases experimental results obtained this study.
